Hiring the Hall: Summary of our T&Cs

You can see our full Terms and Conditions below, but we realise that it is a lot to read through.

This is a summary of what we are trying to achieve with these terms and conditions: most of them are common sense, but we write them down to protect you, us, the hall and our local residents. The T&Cs take precedence over anything that’s written here.

  • Unless you are a business, we require the hire to be paid in advance. Our bank details:Heiton Village Hall (which is a business account), sort code: 87-70-52, account number: 80529768.
  • We will put out chairs and tables for you if you want them.
  • We don’t ask for a deposit unless you are running your own bar. In return, we ask that you look after our hall. Please don’t attach things to the wall (even if using sticky-tak), don’t sit on stacked chairs or change the heating or other controls. If you want to put things on the wall, please ask us first.
  • There are things that you have to do (such as complete a Risk Assessment, which we will help you with) and you must follow any food preparation regulations (if you are supplying food). When you arrive at the hall, we will talk you through the fire procedures and other regulations (eg safeguarding) that you need to know about.
  • You will need appropriate licences if you are playing music, performing a play, showing a film or providing alcohol.
  • You will be responsible for conduct inside and outwith the Hall: we are in a residential neighbourhood.
  • Cars must not be parked outside the hall, or outside the adjacent building on the Kelso side of the hall. We will endeavour to indicate this by using No Waiting bollards. This is simply to reduce the risk of accident, as parking in these places creates blind spots for traffic leaving the hall. There is a small car park at the rear of the hall, but please don’t park in the alley as this is a shared access.
  • There is strictly No Smoking in the hall.
  • If you are having catering, then you have to look after the caterers!
  • At the end of the hire, please check that the place is clean and tidy. We will put the chairs and tables away.
  • Please take all your rubbish, including empty bottles, with you. If we have too much rubbish for collection, our refuse charges will increase substantially which will make hall hire even more expensive.

We hope that you enjoy the use of our hall, and we are here to help you if we can. If you have any questions about the above, please contact us (or email us at heiton.hall@gmail.com).
